VISITORS' REPORTS:
COMMENTSThis report was originally posted by Olianna at Viggo Chronicles Oct. 2003My first word to describe the exhibition is: WOW! I walked into the room with a solemn feeling. To see his photographs for real, was totally different than seeing them in a book. They became alive. The first photo I saw was "Scared Brigit" (1998). For those who knows that photo, the dog to the right looked VERY scary when the photo was full size. I wouldn't be surprised if someone told me that I was standing there, looking at the photo with my mouth open. Not because of the photo, but because it was so special to see the photo for real. I was there, finally. I made it so far. And I knew that the next hour or so was gonna be bery special to me. I don't remember all of the photographs there though. Some said it was 92 photos at the exhibition, so But it doesn't matter. I wasn't there to count photos, I wasn't there to tell others about it. I was there to explore, to enjoy. To float into "ephëmeris". And that's what I did. Some where old photos, from "Recent Forgeries", "Coincidence of memory" and "Signlanguage". Others were new. Some from "Un hueco en el sol", and some were even newer. Some of "the old" photos I remember being there was Ruth (1997), Scared Brigit (1998), Daisy (1994), Passover (2001), 7 November (2001), Later, red (2000), Jarem (2000), Son of Gloin (2000), Signlanguage (1997) and A song for BK (1999). I was most amazed by his newer photos. Don't get me wrong here, I really like his old work too. But his work with colors in photography is so fascinating! Both Narcuelië and I fell completely in love with one of them, but I can't remember the title of it. The colors were blue, and it was two photos put together. Two horses where in it, or half of their heads. It made me speechless! I also loved the photos formed as a circle. Some of them are from "Un hueco en el sol", others I hadn't seen before. There were horses in many of them, and Indians. And colors. Amazing colors. Much blue, wich is my favourite color. I spent much time with every photo. It was magic. It really was. His play with colors and light. I wanted to go into the photos, float around with the colors, and stay there. Dreamy. I can't express how much I love it, and how the photos are speaking to me. Calling for me. I soaked it in, every piece. Every feeling the photos gave me. They will stay with me, forever. And even if I will see other exhibitons, maybe more beauty, maybe some that will even speak more to me. I will never have the same feelings as when I was there, looking at all this amazing photos. Not with the same impressions, not with the same feelings. That's how it is with art. No piece of art is giving me the exact same feeling. (...) I will never forget the time I spent in the museum, with his photographs. I've spent hours with his photos in his books. But it can't even be compared to how it felt being so close to them, see them come alive. Felt so close to both the photos and the artist. It was like entering HIS world, for a moment. This was his work, his feelings, his thoughts, the world seen through his eyes. It was a very special feeling.
