ASCENSION

J.C. Mick and TIM are back with the big yellow truck. They dig out the cross and load it. The Sand Blues can be heard again. They continue with the furniture.

HARRY: (observing them) Where the hell have you been so long?

MICK: We were hungry. We went to Burger King. One can't work all day without something to eat.

J.C.: (to HARRY) The carpet too?
HARRY: Everything.

HARRY examines WES's golf-club. He plays around with it while the men load the fridge on the truck. There is nothing left but the water heater sticking in the sand, a chair KAREN is sitting on and a table with the TV set.
As the first man grabs it, KAREN who was observing them silently suddenly stands up.

KAREN: (following J.C.) Give it back! It's the only thing I can't live without!
J.C.: I'm sorry.

KAREN: Please, I beg you! I'm a widow. I have no money, no husband, nothing. Please!
HARRY: (to J.C.) It's okay. We can make an exception in this case.

J.C. puts the TV down.

HARRY: (to KAREN) Your husband was a really nice man.

KAREN: (thankfully) I'll never forget it.

J.C. takes the last furniture pieces, he and HARRY leave KAREN hugging the TV.

KAREN: Good bye. And God bless you.

HARRY: (waving) God bless you too.

The truck leaves.

An evening sky. The cross is there again, with the crucified hanging on it. KAREN is kneeling on the sand, watching TV. There are heavy clouds in the sky, a thunder rolls over the desert. Suddenly KAREN puts her hands on her belly. She starts to cry and laugh at the same time, looking at the sky.

KAREN: (to herself with a big smile and tears in her eyes) I'm pregnant...

She stands up and goes away dancing. Another thunder roars. Fade out. As the credits start to roll over the black screen we can hear sound of the falling rain.
